Philippine International Doctors United is most commonly known as PIDrU. This support group is for Filipino doctors who immigrated to Canada. This organisation also includes Filipino physicians in a residency training program in Canada. Some of the members are licensed doctors, practicing in Canada. They immigrated here for an opportunity to work hard, help people, and make a good living.
Individuals in PIDrU can gain assistance with preparing for exams to obtain medical licensing. They can also find resources to help them secure a job in the area of healthcare they are interested in. For doctors and other healthcare professionals, the training doesn’t end when they obtain their licenses. Instead, they have to continue to learn, grow, and evolve to offer the highest level of care to their patients.
PIDrU supports this ongoing need through workshops and presentations on relevant topics for such professionals. They also conduct mock job interviews, help with resumes, and provide assistance for Filipino immigrants trying to obtain their medical licenses in Canada. There are mentoring opportunities with FCMA. Many of the members of PIDrU are evaluated and selected to fill those mentorship opportunities due to the close relationship FMCA has with the organisation.
Membership is free, and it is an opportunity to connect with other Filipino immigrants involved in various segments of the healthcare field. It can help with support, resources, securing employment, and the ongoing learning process.
